I believe that any relationship, whether a friendship or more must have a strong foundation to survive the storms you are going to face in life. So without the building blocks to make it strong, it will eventually just crumble from the weight of everyday life. I don't want a friendship built on uneven ground... I want one that can weather the storm. If the friendship is meant to grow, it will happen in time.
