Me describiría a mi mismo como
I'm a classically trained pianist, competitive strength athlete, self-employed consultant and part time entertainer (comedy and magic) for fun. My background is hugely diverse as I never shyed away from challenges...from time in the 'Corps to restaurant management, front man for a rock band in the early 80's, newspaper distributor, geek at large for a huge software company and much, much more. I'm looking to find my partner in life, for better or worse and someone I can ultimately support in her own efforts while we whittle away at our dreams together.
I've traveled the planet, most of the northern hemisphere and am looking to visit some of the south should the opportunity present itself. Meanwhile, I do enjoy the tropics, a good trip to the Caribbean to visit my friends and exercising my scuba training with a dive is also on my short list.
Would love to meet a gal that hunts. I've never done it and would love to learn and spend time outdoors doing the same. Although I'm trained in marksmanship and used it in the service, I've never hunted game...show me?
I'll never outgrow the Beach Boys, Beatles or Jimmy Buffett. I'm always learning something new and honestly I'm pretty fond of the Blues. Right now I'm rockin' to Joe Bonnamassa. I appreciate "Christian rock" as well as some of the contemporary stuff too( MW Smith, SC Chapman, etc). There's always music in my home. Just discovered the Sonos system so it's on my wish list for Christmas this year.
I grew up surfing California and about two decades ago moved to pursue work in the great Northwest for a large software company...as the political climate cooled, so did I and I ended up packing up a couple years ago to end up here in Dallas. There are areas in Dallas named after our family, so it's coming home for me and discovering my roots from the last 150 yrs.
They say never bring up politics, money and religion in social settings, but I’ve never listened to “they”. So WRT the political climate, I'm an active blogger, train with the state militia and teach folks for self defense and emergency preparedness. I do not for one moment believe the government is here to help based on what we see today, take a look at Katrina, Sandy and West...what did the Fed do for us? I am a conservative constitutionalist, although I did vote for Reagan back in the day, there is no party today that truly represents what the founding fathers had in mind. So call me an Independent or Libertarian if you must, but neither truly identify with my core beliefs.
I like to believe that folks respect honesty, transparency, moral values and a good strong Christian faith, but I've found that all too often the walk and the talk doesn’t match up which is always a disappointment. I believe in a God of second chances, a good strong Christian and am glad for it. You should know the value of Christian morals and ethics, prayer and a living relationship with the Lord, that includes realizing one night stands are not something in that vocabulary. I believe in supporting my fellowship and charities and don't mind an evening talking about the matters that matter most. I volunteer periodically at VoA as well as the Red Cross when things get tough for others.
For those that say they're "non-religious" or "other"...let's be real here...there's no atheists in foxholes, so you do believe something and if you haven't come to terms with that...we can chat and be friends, but that's about all. Oh and if you say "new age"...the prophets of Baal said that too...it didn't work out too well for them in the long run.
I love the Lord and have a strong faith, I have my life history as we all do, so if you're judgemental, above it all or never had it hard, we're not a good match. If you're a fighter, don't stand for complacency and constantly learning...we're simpatico.
