Ik beschrijf mezelf als:

My wife died, here at home, this past January. We were married for 32 years, 7 months and 20 days. I felt lost. Empty. Desolate.

My best friend recently told me that I needed to move forward. If he had said "move on", I might have maimed him. (not really... well, maybe... ok, I only probably would have maimed him) I don't think I will ever "get over" or "move on" from her death. Move forward, though? Yes. I can move forward. I am ready for that, to move forward.

Right now, I'm not certain I could carry on a conversation with a woman, let alone a relationship. Yet, I know my friend is probably correct: I should begin to move forward with my life. I hope to find someone who can be, not a replacement for the loss, but an addition to my life. A kind woman who will bring new ideas, new stories, as well as new hopes and new plans for me to absorb, consider and take part in.
