My story, as stories go, could almost be written by Charles Dickens. Great Expectations with a little Christmas Carol thrown in. Perhaps even a little Herman Melville, white whale and all.
My Wife of 24 years just passed away, and while her loss lies heavy on my heart, She knew only too well that I would need someone in my life to share the remaining chapters of my story that she could not.
Here is the ironic thing about all of this. I met her from an ad that I ran in the local paper, the Morning Call, in and of itself a long shot for most people at best, and here I am now, full cycle, doing it again, 24 years later. I can hear her laughing now.
I know that I don't look it, but I am something of a romantic, but at the same time, a little pragmatic as well.
I think that it is inherently difficult for two souls, at first strangers, yet strangely united in their search for someone to share life with, to find each other in this way. However I am living proof that it can happen, the question being in my case, can it happen again. Only the Lord knows.

Simply put, we never can tell when that person will show up in our lives. She did once for me, and I just lost her as she lost her battle against a horrible illness. Before she passed, she made it clear that looking back would not benefit either of us, no matter who passed first. She told me she would move on because she would not want to be alone, well, here I am, moving on.
